“As I started to collect my breath, which I no doubt had been unconsciously holding, I began to feel a sense of relief. My relief lasted only a few seconds as the next sound I heard was for a moment, the scariest sound I had ever heard. The unmistakable sound of the wooden door leading from the outside of the house to the under the floor area opening with a slow drawn out creaking sound penetrated my ears and sent terror through my body. My ordeal wasn’t over. I was standing over the area which the door opened, separated from whatever was down there by only thin creaky old floorboards. I stood frozen, not wanting to let whatever was under the house know that I was directly above them. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. The next sound I heard made my heart drop. From through the floor boards, I hear the distinct sound of a saw turn on. Suddenly, the realization of what I was hearing, hit me like a boulder. Mr. Gilmore was under the floor. The sound of the saw was then accompanied by the sound of blades meeting resistance, which was then followed by a thud. And then silence. Eerie silence”
