Strange Voice

Who was the strange voice speaking out of thin air asking “do you want to talk”, and what did it want to talk about?
Here is a preview of the story.
“I was tired, and my eyesight was foggy, but I could tell from the clock that it was around 2:30 in the morning. The TV was off (I do not remember turning it off), so I got up to stumble over to my bed just a few steps away. As I walked over, I suddenly and distinctly heard a voice in my right ear say:

“Do you want to talk?” the voice said.

Without thinking, I stopped in my tracks, continued staring at my bed, and said the most intelligent thing one can say when confronted with the beyond,”
