Real Ghost Photo Evidence:

The Back Story:

I’m a new listener who is hooked on your podcast! I absolutely love your show and additionally love the fun 80s/90s references which crack me up!

I’m sending you a picture taken by my best friend in 2012. My friend lives in Italy and being that she is an adventurous girl, she decided it would be really fun to sign up for a sleepover ghost hunt hosted by a local paranormal group. This ghost hunt would take place on Poveglia Island: the abandoned former leper island/sanitarium/retirement home in the Venetian Lagoon. I first heard about its gruesome history from an episode of Ghost Adventures.

When she returned from the trip, she told me that she really didn’t see or feel anything remarkable when on the island and was a little dissapointed. She had roamed around the entire compound and the plague fields, and really her only complaint was the uncomfortable sleep when everyone decided to pack it up for the night.

She sent me her pictures and as I looked them over, I came upon a photo that on the surface, didn’t look like anything much, but when I zoomed in I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. What I see in this picture is the head and hands of a figure, which looks as if they were sitting on a bed by the window. What is even eerier is that you can see a cross dangling below the head. The figure has a slight blue tint. You can clearly see the contours of the face: the eyes, the brow line, and what looks like an open mouth. The hands look like they are clasped together.

If I were to say what this figure, if it is paranormal, could be, I would say it could be a priest because of the cross around the neck. It could also be an old person, as Poveglia was also a retirement home, sitting down with a rosary around their neck. I have tried to figure out if this is some kind of light refraction- but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of light filtering in through the window that hits that area- and where is the blue hue coming from? I pointed this out to my friend and she couldn’t believe it.

I hope that you see what I see here is the photo- I have attached the original, which you would have to zoom in to see the figure, as well as a more saturated zoomed in image. I’d love to hear what you think.

Thank you again for all that you do!
Best Wishes,
Elise, Baltimore, MD
