A paint made from the bodies of ground up mummies?

It sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, however it is true. Starting in the 16th century and all the way up to the early 1960s, the popular color “mummy Brown”, was actually made from the ground up remains of Egyptian mummies. Of course, mummies were not the only ingredient in the paint. It also had a touch of pitch and myrrh.

It was very popular amongst artists as it could be used for glazes, shadows, flesh tones and shading. And had the properties of no other paint at the time.

Could this paint be the cause of many hauntings?
