In 2003 I teamed up with professional paranormal investigator Chad Lewis to conduct a graveyard ghost investigation in the city of Appleton Wisconsin. This graveyard held many stories within its gates. One of the most famous was that of a woman named Kate blood. There are many myths and legends surrounding Kates death, but the biggest part of her intrigue resides with the gravestone that marks her final resting place.
This gravestone is said to actually “bleed” if certain words are spoken around the grave at select times of the year. This is one of those “tall tales” that you hear in the paranormal community in my opinion. But nonetheless an interesting story.
Our investigation took place on in early October evening with a full moon in the sky. The graveyard was lit up almost as clear as day. Because of the intense light from the moon a bit of the creepy mystique of being in a cemetery after dark was removed. However that eerie feeling was not far off as we ventured into a set of grottoes hidden in the woods lining a river bank.
Chad let me down a steep embankment near the river into the woods. With flashlights in hand we searched for these handmade alters of towering rock that stood seemingly in random places on the side of this graveyard. It felt like something straight out of Blair witch project. As we ventured through the woods looking for these alters which at one time held the stations of the cross we were met with surprise messages made out of sticks on one of the altars. Spelled-out clear as day was L-I-V-E.
Given the fact that it was a middle of the night, we were alone in the graveyard, and standing near stations of the cross that had to be removed in the 70’s because of satanic rituals, this was not a welcome sight.
Shortly after seeing this message my digital camera began to malfunction. I had difficulty taking any pictures and upon returning to the studio found that none of the pictures I had taken were visible. All I was left with was the audiotape that you hear here.
Our graveyard ghost investigation was one of the most chilling experiences of my life.
