Dead Visit In Dreams?

Can the dead visit us in dreams? If so, what kind of information can they give us to help us on this side?

“The first time I can recall having a “visitation dream”, was in my late teens. My grandfather was in the hospital, and we all knew it was not going to be long before he died. We left the hospital after visiting him and I went to bed shortly after getting home. I was in that semi-conscious state, right before you really fall asleep. I opened my eyes and saw a black figure standing at the foot of my bed. It was just a shadow and only lasted a few seconds, but I knew it was my grandfather coming to tell me goodbye. Moments later, the telephone rang, and I heard someone coming up the stairs. My mother entered my room, but before she could say anything, I said, ” I know, paw paw died, he came to see me.” We hugged each other and I went back to sleep.”
